I've been going here for years. These guys keep making it better and better which isn't easy without a USAF base nearby. The staff tries really hard and does a great job. Lots of cool airplanes including many VERY rare ones.
Wonderful to see so many classics on display! This is one of the best AF museums in the country. Well worth the trip...
I've been to the museum a couple hundred times over the past 30 or so years and never get tired of it. New exhibits pop up, Open cockpit days, car shows, and other special events really add to the fun. Only bad thing I can think of at the time is the snack bar hasn't been open in quite a few years, hopefully this can be reopened someday.
Went to this museum on "open cockpit" day and boy was it busy....which is okay. The aircraft are spectacular and there's plenty of interesting things to see. But the amenities and infrastructure could use some rethinking. Given the open fields and all the walking, strategically placed potable bathrooms would be a boon. Same for refreshments. Temps were in the high 90s and refreshments were difficult to find. Temporary carts in strategic locations could alleviate this problem. Same for the gift buulding area which was too crowded. A stand for caps and other popular gifts outdoors and under a canopy would work wonders.
This place is great. Has a lot of great planes. They had the blackbird SR-71 that I wanted to see. A retired air force one. Different types of bombers. The staff was very nice. The only issue was that all the planes are super dusty and dirty. But besides that. Great place. Parking is free
